Here’s Everything We Know About Instagram Edits

So, it sounds like Meta, the company behind Instagram, is launching a brand new video editing app called “Edits.” They’re saying it’s going to be a really cool and powerful tool for people who love making videos, especially for Instagram Reels.
This news is interesting because it comes right after TikTok’s video editing app, CapCut, was temporarily taken off the app stores in some places. So, a lot of creators were looking for other options.
Adam Mosseri, who’s in charge of Instagram, even showed off the app in a video he made using Edits itself!
Here’s a simple breakdown of what the app is expected to offer:
Basic video editing stuff: Just the usual tools you’d expect to trim, cut, and put video clips together.
Better camera quality: Apparently, the app has a built-in camera that can record higher-quality video.
Inspiration hub: There will be a place to see what audios and ideas are trending to help you come up with your own creative videos.
Save your ideas: A spot where you can keep all your video ideas and drafts organized.
Mosseri mentioned that this app is really made for creators, not just people who make casual videos. He also said there won’t be any pre-made templates in the app.
Keep in mind, though, that this app isn’t meant for making long videos like YouTube videos, and there won’t be a version for computers.
The launch date was moved around a bit, but it’s now set for April 30, 2025. If you have an iPhone, you can even pre-order it now so you can download it as soon as it comes out next month. Android users might have to wait a little longer, as Mosseri said the Android version is coming “soon.”
Mosseri also asked for everyone to be patient because the first version of the app won’t have everything they plan to add in the future. It sounds like this is just the beginning for Edits!
It’s definitely an interesting development, especially with the whole CapCut situation. It will be cool to see what people can create with this new app!
